Resume

The Sentinel Virtual Tail Gas Analyzer is a system for analyzing the composition of H2S and SO2, their ratio and the determination of air demand, in the tail gas or residual gas in a Claus plant.

TailGasVASentinel is based on a model of the plant and some algorithms that allow the parameters mentioned above to be inferred from process variables available from a Sulfur Recovery Unit (SRU) in the control system, such as pressure, temperature and flow rates, without the need for an expensive physical analyzer, or in some cases serving as backup to it.

Specs

  • Calculates the H2S/SO2 ratio every 30 seconds.
  • It requires the following process variables as a minimum: Flow of Acid Gas and Sour Gas inlet, Air flow, inlet and outlet temperature of the catalytic reactors.
  • Runs on a personal computer with Windows 7 or higher operating system, with a minimum capacity of 4 Gbytes of RAM
  • Connection to the control system via OPC DA, OPC UA or DDE.
  • It has a retraining algorithm that provides the calibration capacity using redundant variables of the history. Therefore, it does not require standard gas samples and/or laboratory resources.
  • It has FallBack mechanisms in case of failure of the measurements of any of the input variables, the TailGasVASentinel uses models with the available variables.
